Trends of collection building in academic and special libraries

Abstract

The inflationary pressures of the past ten years and their consequences in stock building have unfavourably affected the activities of the special libraries in Hungary, too. Based upon statistical data of 1970, 1974 and 1978 the author analyzes the inproper process leading to a significant development of special libraries financed by development funds of enterprises, while the collection of large libraríes functioning at various national levels remained relatively unchanged.
