Online interactive Information retrieval services from the INIS database in Hungary

Abstract

An account on the ten-month experimental operational period of the online retrospective search service at the Central Technical Library and Documentation Centre (OMKDK) of Hungary is given. A brief overview of the structure and services of the International Nuclear Information System (INIS) is presented. The main features and operation of interactive searching is treated in details with an introduction to the STAIRS system used for searching the INIS database. An illustrative example of an online session is presented. Finally, an assessment of the experimental period is given.
