The information system on foreign economy in the German Democratic Republic

Abstract

In the GDR the collection, processing and utilization of foreign economic information is highly organized, based on the cooperation of the institutions concemed. The Centre for Foreign Econornic Information (Zentrum für Information der Aussenwirtschaft, ZIDA) is responsible for the management of the system. The article describes the operation of the information system on foreign economy and the activities of ZIDA.
