Some deficiencies of a good standard
Keywords:
-Abstract
The new Hungarian standard for the bibliographic description of monographs (MSZ 3424/1-78) can generally be regarded as adaquate, though some errors can also be detected. The article analyzes only these errors on the basis of their origin i.e. whether they are mechanical adoptions or modified versions of the erroneous rules of ISBD(M) or entirely independent thereof. The deficiencies concerning source indications and the order of sources are adopted, but by presenting and inadaquate, lengthy rule for the prohibition of certain sources, the Hungarian standard even surpasses the deficiencies of the original.
