Satisfying scientific and technical literature needs based on the INSPEC SDI service in the Hungarian Central Technical Library

Abstract

The author summarizes the experiences gained during a two-year period with primary document acquisition as a background service for SDI users of the INSPEC 1 database. The Library possesses 49,1 per cent of the journals processed partially by INSPEC 1 and 67 per cent of those abstracted completely. An additional 21 per cent of the latter stock can be found in other libraries in Hungary. Copies of documents covered by INSPEC were requested by 690 and 1024 users in 1978 and 1979, respectively, the proportion of satisfied requests was 87,6 and 91,7 per cent, resp. Other sources fot document acquisition were internal and external interlibrary loan Services, in addition to the BLLD (6-7 per cent share).
