Processing and retrieval of industrial drawings by a thesaurus

Abstract

In stores of industrial drawings, especially in those storing on microfilm, there is a growing demand for a search system facilitating retrieval not only by the accession number or other formai data but by title or subject content as well. This demand can most efficiently be met with the help of a thesaurus. The thesaurus contains in a dictionary-like form all the descriptors that can be used for title and content description and for retrieval. It can be utilized either in manual or in computerized systems.
