The standard ISO/IEC 9126-4 provides unanimousdefinitions and metrics for measuring the quality in use of software products, independent ofthe area of their application. It would be of great importance for the library field if theeffectiveness, completeness and efficiency of information searching could be clearly definedand these attributes be measured properly. The article presents, in addition to the use ofmetrics from this standard, the findings of a survey that indicate which factors have thegreatest impact on user satisfaction during computerised information searching inlibraries.
