Developing the interface and services of the WebOPAC

It is of key importance that the WebOPAC be as simple,transparent and user-friendly as possible. The Aleph platform allows tailoring the interface toneeds, to develop and modify it with assistance from the staff of Ex-Lh Ltd. as supportenterprise and its newsletter. In addition, the ElCommons collaborative web site (onlinelistserv) serves as an information-sharing centre for the Aleph-user community. The Libraryof the Eötvös József College at Baja implemented last year a series of developments whichcontributed to an increase in user satisfaction. These included setting the links of title fields,and inserting the icons of material types into the lists of hits. The WebOPAC was successfullyconnected to GoogleBooks, and users can display the images of book covers as digital objectsusing the ADAM module. The article summarizes the advantages for users, and also coversIT-related issues and required settings in much detail.
