Scientific and technical information and the special libraries

Abstract

The modemlzation of information supply is considered by the Hungarian Socialist Workers Party and the Government as a significant condition of development. The development of the information system is determined by the establishment of the International Scientific and Technical Information System of the CMEA countries. Dining the past years information centres of the ministries as well as libraries of the larger institutes and enterprises introduced new information services suited to new needs. The results obtained until now are not yet satisfactory, therefore a modernization of the information supply is needed at an accelerated pace. Therefore, the elaboration of the development project of the National Scientific and Technical Information System has been started under the guidance of the State Committee of Technical Development. Special libraries will play an important role in the establishment of the System. Furfher on, the article deals with the most important tasks, the problems to be solved and the lack of specialist. It' calls the attention to those objectives which are to be solved by the specialists attached to information centres and special libraries.
