Abstract

The article explains the principles of the representation of information needs by the theory of sets and discusses the theoretical and practical relations of information needs and information demand. The conclusions derived from set theory correlations between information needs and information demand are applied to determine the information needs of a user group. The advantages of representing information needs by theory of sets are shown.
