Mechanization of information technology by punched cards, and other means

Abstract

Author presents a review of the activities of the laboratory of the Estonian Research Institute of Scientific and Technical Information and Technical-Economic Investigations related to the mechanization of information technology. The laboratory elaborates working methods of mechanization and technical arrangements for the production of mechanization tools and their manufacture. The article gives a detailed survey of various types of manual punched cards and flags produced by the institute and provides guidelines for the selection of the appropriate tools. It also mentions of other types of tools used for facilitating information work. The products of the laboratory are much in demand in the Soviet Union.
