New curriculum for information studies in India

Abstract

Due to the accelerated social and economic development of India after independence in 1947, the demand for information services has been growing rapidly. The artiele analyses the present situation and future trends of library and information science education necessary to meet the mereasing information needs. It presents a detailed deseription of the objectives and the syllabus of the M. Sc. course in information science and the course in computer applications.
