The development of the State System of Scientific and Technical Information in the USSR

Abstract

The development of the network of the information services of the State System for Scientific and Technical Information is outlined. Information services at all hierarchical levels are considered. Attention is given to the automation and mechanisation of information processes and to the linking of modern computer-based information systems through communication channels into an integrated automated network being designed under a uniform coordination plan. The important role played by the international information system of the socialist countries now under development is stressed.
