The work of professors and researchers in academicinstitutions is often supported by a variety of online video sharing portals. Several portalssatisfy the needs of a wider audience, while others serve for professional purposes, are usedby a narrower group of researchers, and have been created based on their suggestions. Manyprofessors show an aversion towards online video sharing repositories, in most of the caseswithout any grounds. The new habits of students and new trends in the methods of educationmean a challenge for traditional education, and online video sharing services fit well into thenew educational-research environment. The first video repositories were born in WesternEurope and now a modern, high-standard, professional video sharing portal calledVideotorium is available in Hungary.
