Abstract

The address given at the 15th National Conference on Information (15-16 February 1977, Katowice) describes in detail the information activities carried out in Poland. The author outlines the activities of the information centres, especially the tasks and the scope of activity of the Scientific, Technical and Economic Information Centre (Centrum Informacji Naukowej, Technicznej i Ekonomícznej, CINTE). Recently the Centre elaborated several draft bilis (e. g. on information, on microfilming of documents). It also deals with the application of modem technical means to information activities and with the development of a unified statistical recording system. Through its co-ordinating function it maintains permanent working relations with other information centres. The scientific council of the Scientific, Technical and Economic Information Centre elaborated the first version of the Scientific, Technical and Organizational Information System (System Informacji Naukowej, Technicznej i Organizacyjnej, SINTO). SINTO is designed as a universal system embracing all branches of science and providing scientific, technical and organizational information. Its structure will include special, branch and regional subsystems. Certain parts of SINTO became already operational, the experimental period is expected to be finished in 1981-1982. The second phase, the full development of the system will be perfectioned till 1990-1992.
