Information services for engineers

Abstract

The paper treats the peculiarities of the information needs of engineers dependent on the nature of their activity. With a view to illustrating these needs the basic stages of the process of drafting the complex engineering object are discussed. The tasks of providing engineers with information are formulated on the basis of the information needs. As basic tasks are considered the widest possible utilization of scientific-technical information: the differential formation of the information files in providing information for planning typical technological objects; providing information in a form suitable for users; terms within which the information must be provided. The report points out some of the ways to solve these tasks.
