The scientific periodical. Survey of present trends and future perspectives

Abstract

The article offers a brief survey of the development of scientific periodicals. The most recent trends are the adoption of new reprographic techniques, the production of new types of publications (so-called quick information services), microform publications etc. in order to promote the dissemination of information. During the last years several attempts were made to substitute other media to periodicals, nevertheless they remained the most important means of the dissemination of scientific information.
