Structure of the scientific-technical information system of precision engineering in the Soviet Union

Abstract

The industrial branch of precision engineering in the Soviet Union includes more than 500 industrial enterprises and institutes for research and development. By establishing the scientific-technical information system of precision engineering, the extensive research profile and the wide range of manufacture that characterizes the branch was taken into consideration. The article informs in detail about the structure of the branch information system, its main tasks, services and the problems related to its automation and mentions some of its most important publications.
