The International Food Information Service. The first seven years

The editor of the International Food Information Service (IFIS) reports on the background of the establishment of the service. He deseribes the structure of IFIS and on its first seven years its achievements and services. The abstracting journal, Food Science and Technology Abstracts (FSTA) is issued in internationai co-operation since 1969. 16 000-17 000 abstracts are published annually in the FSTA, aboul 75% of which are prepared in the editorial office and the sub-centres, while the remaining 25% come from different parts of the world. Two tables present the country breakdown of the abstracted journals and the subject breakdown of the abstracts.
