Alternatives for the traditional forms of publication and their effects on libraries

Abstract

The model of publishing activity is going to change. Within a decade a progressive transformation - concerning mainly the publication of periodicals and journal articles - will take place. In the new model new forms of publication and distribution will replace the traditional forms. Financial difficulties, of the last years (the rising costs and expensés caused by the jnfrationary process) seem to enforce the development of new models. The author presents a survey of the most important problems and developments of publishing, micropublishing, computer aided publishing and their effects on the libraries.
