Articles of the Hungarian perlodical "Scientific and Technical Information" in foreign abstract journals

Abstract

The periodical TMT (Tudományos es Műszaki Tájékoztatás - Scientific and Technical Information) is an important organ and literature source of the Hungarian information workers.
Investigation of the interest shown abroad towarda its articles could help to assess the placa of the journal among the foreign journals on scientific and technical information.
The representation of the articles published in Scientific and Technical Information in the 1968-1974 volumes of the abatract journals Referativnyj Zhurnal- Scientific and Technical Information; Information Science Abstracts; Library and Information Science Abstracts and Science Abstracts ser. C. Computer and Control Abstracts was analysed.
The resulte of the investigation show that the rate of the articles attributed in the four big abatracting services during the period of 1968-1973 amounts to 60%, 40%, 33% and 23% respectively (in the order of the abatract journals given above);
the number of the articlea abstracted does not depend so much on the number of the original articles as on their subject and quality;
tha rate of the TMT articles abstracted is comparable to articles of similar journals published in widely ueed languages;
the articles relating to specific domestic problems are usually not abstracted, there are, however, topics of international interest: classification and indexing systems, thesauri, information systems.
