Tasks and working methods of information departments in big enterprises in the German Democratic Republic

Abstract

Information departments in big enterprises are collecting, processing and disseminating information. In addition, very often, they are responsible for the guidance of units and persons responsible for information supply as well as for the co-ordination of all relating activities.
Tasks and activities of a central information department in a big enterprise are described around the following main topics:
- computerized information services;
- division of labour between the central information department and its information units;
- training of users.
