Abstract

Hungary is a member of the FID since 1947. The Hungarian National Committee for FID is performing the duties of the national member. One of the most significant tasks of the Committee is to promote international relations of Hungarian documentation through the FID.
The FID elected several times Hungarian documentalists to its governing bodies: Dr. P. Lázár, Vice-President (1967-1968), L. Jánszky, Council member (1960-1963, 1969-1976).
Among the meetings held by the Federation in Hungary the 36. Conference and International Congress and the two International seminars, organized in September 1972 occupy a prominent place. Several meetings of the Council (1967), the Committee FID/C 3 1962, 1966, 1969, 1972) and others were also held in Hungary.
The FID list of publications includes 7 Hungarian publications as well: abridged and full UDC tables, congress and seminar proceedings, lists of technical journals, etc.
Many Hungarian specialists participated during this period in the activities of the various FID committees. The Hungarian national member was entrusted to run the Secretariat of the special committee FID/DC "Developing Countries" under Hungarian chairmanship from 1966 to July 1975.
The participation of Hungary in the FID contributes efficiently to the iniernational development of documentation as well as to the adaptation of internationally accepted means and methods in. Hungary.
