The processing of special literature with the aid of UDC based peek-a-boo-cards

Abstract

The author describes the use of peek-a-boo-cards in processing a library collection with UDC. Advantages of the system are illustrated by examples. After the description of the use of simple UDC numbers, processing with compound UDC numbers is presented: 1. for the case of several numbers of the main tables and 2. by linking numbers of the main tables with general or special auxiliaries.
The system described is used in reference work. In many aspects it proved to be more flexible than conventional catalogues.
