Abstract

The "Könyvtári és Dokumentációs Szakirodalom. Referáló Lap" (Literature on Librarianship and Documentation. Abstract Journal) is published by the Centre for Library Science and Methodology of the National Széchényi Library. Its abstracts are made from about 100 important journals covering 25-30 countries, i.e. librarianship and documentation in the socialist countries, Western and Northern Europe, the USA, Canada and some developing countries. Most important monographs acquired by the Centre's Library are also scanned in a smaller scale. Hungarian materials are not included.
The items are very selected: yearly 5-600 abstracts and the same amount of citations. Abstracts in general consist of 3-400 words.
Alphabetic and subject indexes are in each issue. The alphabetic index contains not only the authors but also persons, institutions and information services mentioned in the documents. The subject index is compiled in the form of a permuted index with number codes; it indicates the type and publication date of the document as well as the publisher and the country presented, Both indexes are cumulated yearly.
The journal is published quarterly in A/4 format on 120 pages. For libraries abroad it is available on an exchange base from the publisher: Centre for Library Science and Methodology, National Széchényi Library, Múzeum u. 3. 1088 Budapest, Hungary.
