Report on the activities of the Central Library of the Budapest Technical University in 1971

Abstract

In 1971 the Library's book collection was increased by 11.408 volumes and the special collections by 4770 documents. The number of current periodical titles was 1879. The total holdings of the Library includes 284.695 volumes of books, 69.684 items in the special collections, and 6462 volumes of periodicals.
The Library's xerox service produced 521.591 copies for 5384 customers.
A course of literature search organized by the Central Library involved some 400 engineering students. Information engineers compiled 20 bibliographies, including 1541 items, for the faculty members. The Library puclished the list of doctoral dissertations accepted by Hungarian technical universities for the academic year 1968-1969, as well as a volume containing facts and figures for technical higher education in Czechoslovakia. The Library exchanges its own and the university's publications with 892 institutions of 72 countries. In the course of studies in the history of science and technology, due credit was given to Géza Zemplén, the famed professor oi orgsnic chemistry.
