The application of reprography in information system
Abstract
This is the text of a state-of-the-art survey on reprography presented in Prague at the conference of socialist countries. It circumscribes the topics relating to the subject then summarizes the development of reprography in Hungary. This development was originated in the passive (safety) application of microtechnics, later supplemented by the adaptation of copying and microfilm technics for document supplying purposes. Stimulating and retarding elements which led to the outlined development of repro-technics and systems applied are also surveyed.
The following fields of application are emphasized like important parts of activities: Supply (provision) of documents, Optical (microfilm) storage of texts within current information systems. Analysis of the various equipments and materials indicated the most important condition for dissemination of reprographic methods in Hungary and in other socialist countries as follows: complete (high level and rationally adaptable) systems are to be made available which are based on national production or socialist import. In this relation present use of micro-technics and conditions of development are discussed in details.
The paper is closed with the problems of co-ordination in the field of reprography. The elaboration of such a conception requires active exchange of experiences among the socialist countries. This is of utmost interest for Hungary in consequence of negligible character of the national production.
