Before the 1972 FID Conference and Congress in Budapest
Abstract
The author, Vice-President of FID, gives a summary on the history, development and international character of FID in connection with the FID Conference and congress to be held in Budapest during September 1972. Describes how the number of FID national members increased in the last 50 years and what kind of new motives were given by the activity of socialist countries regarding places of congresses as well as division of labour in the Federation, Lists the working committees and summarizes their activities.
The themes of the Budapest Conference and Congress are presented as well as the various official programmes. The timetable is also outlined. The Congress deals with documentation problems in small and less industrialized countries.
The FID meetings - organized in connection with the International Book Year - will be held immediately after the IFLA Conference in August. So, members of the two international organizations and their representatives will have opportunlty for direct personal contacts and for exchange of experiences.
International organizations for documentation and information invited to the Congress are also dealt with, with special regard to their activities included in the programme. Detailed information is given on the two FID regional commissions: the Latin American Commission (FID/CLA) and the Commission for Asia and Ooeania (FID/CAO).
Finally it is explained why the last FID General Assembly (Buenoa Aires, 1970) decided to held the next Conference in Budapest.
