"Hard" and "soft" sciences
Abstract
According to N. W. STORER generally the more harder a science is the more organized is its store of knowledge and the less inconsistent is its conceptual system. The more mathematics is applied by a science the more preciseness might be reached in organizing the concerning knowledge and in judging new scientific achivements. STORES elaborated an experimental method for measuring the degree of hardnese or softness. Results proved that during the period investigated (1936-1966) soft sciences retrived to become harder. PRICE's mensurations of citations are also justifying that the fields of hard and soft sciences are rather separable.
