Evolvement development and task of information activities in the Institute of Home Trade Research
Abstract
The Institute of Home Trade Research (and its precursor) has been active in information work ever since 1954. Its main responsibility is to maintain and continuously develop a central special library; to supply the relevant foreign literature necessary to the research work conducted by the staff; to pursue information activities, within modest bounds, though.
The information service of the Institute tends to supply home trade with up-to-date information in a concise form. It abstracts or translates yearly several thousands of articles from various journals, compiles review articles on the required thematic fields, and its publications give a comprehensive picture of the advancements, efforts and newest trends of up-to-date trade in foreign countries, and help the work of trade companies with many useful pieces of advice.
The special library is open for all those engaged in this field.
As regards its future work, the Institute plans to continue developing its information system so that its work may – more than before – cope with the actual needs of research, and this effort will involve an extension of its tasks.
