Quality management in libraries

Abstract

The concepts and applications of quality control, quality assurance and quality management have been discussed in the literature, especially in the context of manufacturing industries. However, some service industries lack the comprehensive interpretation of the concepts above yet. They represent heterogeneous servíces, with the quality assurance well known and widely employed sys¬tem in many of them, like trade, bank, information services. There are, however somé areas, like the libraries, where quality management and its applications need further studies. This is a reason why the book Quality Management in Library, by Ms. Judit Skaliczki and Ms. Éva Zalai-Kovács, published in 2001 can be used as a pioneering work in librarianship where it can be used as a practical guide for quality management in libraries.
